Dr. Ranjan Bera

Advisor - Climate & Net Zero Strategy (Agriculture and Land-Use Systems)

Dr. Ranjan Bera is a senior climate and sustainability advisor with a specialization in agricultural decarbonisation, Net Zero transition strategy, and greenhouse gas accounting across land-use and agri-food value chains. He holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Chemistry and Soil Science and has nearly two decades of experience translating climate science into scalable, field-ready solutions. He has led the development of sector-specific carbon accounting tools, including ACFA (v1.0 & 2.0) and the Trustea Emission Calculator, and has supported Net Zero agriculture initiatives in collaboration with ICAR-ATARI and allied institutions. His expertise spans carbon baselining, lifecycle emission analysis, soil and biomass carbon assessment, and the design of robust MRV frameworks aligned with national climate policy, ESG disclosures, and international reporting standards. As Advisor to SM-PACT India Foundation, Dr. Bera supports CSR programs, governments, and development partners in Net Zero roadmap development, carbon audits, MRV system design, and climate impact reporting aligned with BRSR, SDGs, and global climate commitments.
